Book Review - The Big Book of Lionel (2nd Edition), by Robert Schleicher (Voyageur Press)
The Big Book of Lionel 2nd edition by Robert Schleicher Voyageur Press is an excellent and superbly illustrated book helpful to all in the collection and operation of Lionel trains. The book will be especially valuable to novice or beginning model railroaders as it logically and beautifully depicts the generations of Lionel trains and especially those of the modern era. It explains the history, subtleties and features of Lionel trains. It offers excellent detailed but easy to follow descriptions and plans for layouts, scenery, operating and repairing Lionel trains. Unlike many books that have a lot of words and some rudimentary instructions for building and operating a layout, this fine book depicts in clear, high resolution images exactly what needs to be done to insure adults and kids enjoy Lionel trains to their fullest. I recommend this book to all Lionel operators and feel it is both an excellent value and helpful how to guide. The chapters and organization logically follow from learning about Lionel trains to their operation, repair, maintenance and development of a complete layout. This book will make the operation of toy trains simple and increase the fun component of all oy trains and Lionel trains especially.
